Samia

I am a clinical psychologist committed to helping people live better and more fulfilling lives. My work focuses on helping understand why we have certain experiences and, most importantly, how we can change. I believe in working collaboratively to help clients reach their goals. I am passionate about sharing skills and information with individuals, couples, or families who are looking to live their life differently or who would like to improve an area of their life.

Much of my clinical work has been with people who have experienced trauma, anxiety, depression, cultural aggressions/microaggressions, and chronic pain. I received specialized training at the UCSF Infant-Parent Program at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital working with young children and parents using dyadic therapy, as well as helping families work through prior traumas and helping them to stop the cycle of trauma and abuse. At Kaiser Permanente I have worked with adults experiencing various mental health challenges, chronic pain, and chronic illness and providing skills to better manage their pain and suffering. It is always such a pleasure for me to witness the personal growth and increased functionality in my clients.

I am bilingual (English-Spanish) and bi-cultural. Due to having lived many of my early years in Mexico, and speaking Spanish, I returned to the United States with limited knowledge of the English language and experienced, first-hand, language barriers and burdens. In my adult life, whenever possible, I have worked to implement better services for people who struggle with language barriers and have been humbled by my interactions with my patients, clients, acquaintances, and friends throughout my career.

I value diversity and honor the greatness that exists within each and every one of us. I continue to work with patients from all walks of life. You can feel understood, valued, and able to celebrate your culture, your wisdom, your strengths, and your identities I strive to learn from the connections that I make and to share my knowledge with others whenever possible.

  • Prolonged Exposure Therapy
